Elite Heat - Individual Category

The winner of the elite heat individual category will be determined by the racer who finishes the obstacle course in the fastest time without having committed a penalty or safety violation. Winners will be selected in both male and female categories.  The top three finishers of the male and female category will be recognized following the elite heat by the race host.

Individuals will move to the start of the obstacle course following the viewing of the safety and instructional video. Once at the starting line, they will be arranged in race order numbering 1-30.  The first racer will move to the starting line to begin the course with their assigned grader/timekeeper.  The first racer will be shown the stopwatch of the grader/timekeeper to confirm that it is zeroed and be given the command of “Go.” Once the racer crosses the start line, their time will begin and will end once they complete all obstacles and cross the finish line.  If the racer fails to properly complete an obstacle or commits a safety violation they will be disqualified and their time will not count for winning consideration.  If a racer touches any of the yellow portion of an obstacle, they will be assessed a 30 second penalty for each time the infraction occurs.  The 30 second penalty will be added to the overall time of the racer’s final time and for each time that they make contact with a yellow portion of an obstacle.  Each racer will be given a 2 minute separation before the next racer begins the obstacle course.  If the racer behind them catches them during the race, they will not prevent the other racer from passing them. Slower paced athletes must allow faster athletes to pass. Purposefully preventing a faster athlete to advance at any point in the competition falls under the rules of ‘Unsportsmanlike Conduct’ and the racer will be automatically disqualified.  If a racer reaches an obstacle and they are unable to execute the obstacle due to too many racers on the obstacle, they will be told to remain in place and their time will be paused by their grader/timekeeper.  Once the obstacle is cleared and a lane is open, the grader/timekeeper will tell the racer to continue on the course and their time will resume.  The racer’s time ends when they cross the finish line.  The grader/timekeeper will tell them their time and the official recorder will write down the racer’s time.

Pre-running / walking the course is not permitted and is grounds for disqualification. Sportsmanlike conduct is expected of all competitors, at all times in all areas of the event and competition. ‘Unsportsmanlike Conduct’ is grounds for expulsion from the event.

Team Category

Each team will move to the start of the obstacle course following the viewing of the safety and instructional video. Once at the starting line, they will be arranged in race order numbering 1-5.  The first team will move to the starting line to begin the course with their assigned graders/timekeepers.  The first team will be shown the stopwatch of the grader/timekeeper to confirm that it is zeroed and be given the command of “Go.” Once the first member of the team crosses the start line, their time will begin and will end once they complete all obstacles and cross the finish line as a team.  The winning team will be the team that completes the obstacle course in the fastest time with all of its members having correctly completed all obstacles.  A team must not commit a safety violation or they will be automatically disqualified.  If a member of the team touches any yellow portion of an obstacle, they will be given a 30 second penalty to their time for each time that a team member touches the yellow area.  Each team will be given a five minute separation before the next team begins the obstacle course.  If the team behind them catches them during the race, they will not prevent the other team from passing them. Slower paced athletes must allow faster athletes to pass. Purposefully preventing a faster athlete to advance at any point in the competition falls under the rules of ‘Unsportsmanlike Conduct’ and the team will be automatically disqualified.  If a team reaches an obstacle and they are unable to execute the obstacle due to too many teams on the obstacle, they will be told to remain in place and their time will be paused by their graders/timekeepers.  Once the obstacle is cleared and a lane is open, the grader/timekeeper will tell the team to continue on the course and their time will resume.  The team’s time ends when the last member of the team crosses the finish line.  The grader/timekeeper will tell them their time and the official recorder will write down the team’s time.

Pre-running / walking the course is not permitted and is grounds for disqualification. Sportsmanlike conduct is expected of all competitors, at all times in all areas of the event and competition. ‘Unsportsmanlike Conduct’ is grounds for expulsion from the event.
